Proud To Be Supporting

The Hive Youth Zone was created in 2017, a charity dedicated to making sure Wirral’s young people have somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to. Their vision is for every young person to be happy, healthy and thrive within their community.

The Hive always put young people first and combine high quality youth work with inspiring activities in an inclusive, safe space. Their passionate team provide the opportunities, knowledge and confidence to make positive choices to help raise aspirations and encourage young people to be the best version of themselves. They deliver a huge range of activities in their state-of-the-art facilities with more than 20 activities every session, whilst empowering young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with additional needs) to build their resilience, skills, ambition and knowledge for adult life. Inclusion flows through everything they do at The Hive, with 35% of their membership having an additional need or disability.

With 3,000 members and 40,000 visits in the last 12 months, The Hive is a true hive of activity and offers a lifeline to families as more than half of its members live in some of the most deprived wards in England. Their membership is £5 per year and 50p each visit, with hot, healthy meals available for £1 which may be the only meal they eat all day – or even week.

Funds raised from this year's Liverpool Sportswomen's Lunch will enable The Hive to continue to break down barriers for thousands of young people by funding their vital work in the following areas:

  • Delivery of hundreds of different sports activities to encourage children to be active
  • Support their creative music, arts and media programmes
  • Empower young people to take care of their health, wellbeing and safety, and to learn the skills they need for independent working and living
  • Enable young people to make new friends and have fun together to combat loneliness
  • Encourage children to get involved, both at The Hive and in our wider LCR community as active citizens
